Logistics of the OS
|
Can anyone direct me to an up to date map of the Olympic park with access to the ground. I have been on google maps but the pictures via street view are over a year old and some roads are closed. I assume Stratford Walk will be open which links Westfield to the Olympic park but it is shut on google street view. I am a season ticket holder and have tickets to the game on thursday and sunday and not recieved tickets yet (not an issue as they should come today/tomorrow) but wondering if anyone has a map from the club or any good links on the web...cheers

Great thread.
This site has been bereft of OS chatter.
Can't believe nobody thought of starting up a thread on this earlier. Would probably have almost 30k comments by now.

Now call me old skool, but I reckon I'm just gonna bowl out of the station up to the ground and then follow the signs to whatever entrance is printed on my ticket like I do with away games.
Can't be that difficult I'm sure!

Once off the train/tube. Aim for the big stadium, the one with a quarter of an iconic wrap on.

Anyone ever been to Westfield on a Saturday afternoon?
Gonna be absolutely hilarious trying to fit another few thousand people (half of them pissed) out of Stratford station through Westfield every other weekend.
YOURS.

There's a number of ways into the stadium. I'll be coming from the opposite side to Westfield. It should be easier than for other events because more of us are local so won't be stuck to the main route.

I expect coming from the tube station you'll probably be funnelled a certain way anyway. Likewise from Stratford international. I should think the international route will be a fair bit quieter.

Stratford station is a tragedy just waiting to happen - the platforms get so full it'll only needs someone to trip (on the stairs coming up, rushing to get THEIR train maybe) and the domino effect will knock at least half a dozen people into the path of that train pulling into the platform.
No number of hazjjac dressed, zero-hours contract agency staff shouting "stand behind the yellow line" (when there's really nowhere else to go) will prevent that.

When you get off the train, look for a man with a white coat. He will ask you a question about George Parris. If you answer correctly you will be escorted to the ground. If not, your season ticket will be rescinded.
Good luck

Can't remember who I was talking to on here about it, but with those really narrow platforms at Stratford and the sheer volume of people using them its actually surprising how there haven't been deaths already. I've never been to Westfield any time of day and there's not been massive queues to/from the station in whatever exit used, chuck an extra 50,000+ people into the mix it's not exactly gonna get any better.
Not moaning about it, its just fucking mad that no one seems to have really planned for this.

I'm going nowhere near Westfield, i'll take a longer walk, which will end up being quicker as less people will be going that way (I hope). Most people will figure out the best way for them. First few games might be a bit congested but I expect that will get a lot better over the coming weeks.

Our firm is due to be relocated up there in 2019... some 5000+... so that will be interesting on mid week match days...

in keeping with the OP, I was looking yesterday for a plan of the OS showing which end is which in relation to the train Station. I'm in block 148, is that the North or South end of the stadium does anyone know?

Its the North, mate. The North/East are the ends closest to Stratford station

Isn't Pudding Mill Station physically closer to the (south side of) the stadium?
I've only been passed a couple of times but that's the impression I got...that and the station itself seems to have unfeasibly larger platforms than needed to service staff working in the surrounding scrapyards.
